Is college study enough to score good in GATE exam?

As you have landed on this page, it means you are well aware of the GATE examination. It is the topmost priority of an engineering student in India to crack this exam with a good rank. ( Who does not want a luxurious life ahead! )

Every year lakhs of student sit on the GATE exam to shape their future but about 10-15 % of them are able to qualify it. This shows the difficulty level of the exam. To score good in this exam, one has to clear all the concepts with a good understanding of time management. So, the question arises, 'Is the college study enough to crack this GATE exam or not?'
Well, as a current engineering student and a GATE aspirant my clear answer is a big 'NO'. I have some points to prove it.
First, you have to manage your semester studies with GATE preparation. Remember, GATE is totally different thing as compared to the college studies. How good you are in studies you will always find it hectic to match both the semester as well as GATE studies simultaneously.
Another thing which I want to say is that at many times you have to put aside your GATE preparation to get indulge in various activities like college exams, events and seminars. So, it's pretty hard to manage things.
Every year, the number of aspirants is increasing while the seats for Various PSUs and topmost IITs remain the same. As a result a large number of coaching centres are opened for GATE preparation. You will somehow find yourself a step behind them. That's for sure.
These are some reasons which I find tell the complete story. My purpose is not to demotivate you but only to tell you the fact which I believe. You can also score well not by joining any coaching only if you have something out of the world type brain.
